On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, celebrated globally on the 8th of March, the Qatari sales team of Vodafone Qatar, Al Johara, is launching an online competition for everyone to join and express their love and appreciation for these women who have made a difference in their lives.

The competition, running on Instagram (@VodafoneQatar) and Facebook ( will kick-off starting Wednesday, March 5, and closes at midnight on Saturday, March 8. Winners will be announced online on Sunday, March 9. Vodafone Qatar will name two winners who will walk away with an iPhone 5s.

Women are having an increasingly important role in society and the corporate world and many of them are true inspirations and this competition is only a small step to recognise this role.”

Al Johara is a unique initiative for Qatari women to sell Vodafone products and services to friends, families and communities. Qatari women learn new skills, work at home, earn income and develop their entrepreneurial talent, within traditional and cultural communities. Al Johara programme’s scalable nature is helping to create employment opportunities and empowering Qatari women. The team includes ladies aged between 23 to 46 half of whom are mothers and students.

Vodafone Qatar is also celebrating this wonderful occasion, women@vodafone, internally and worldwide through Vodafone Group. The internal event is a global video conference linking all the Vodafone markets around the world. This global event will feature case studies and interviews with colleagues from across Vodafone including Germany, India, Italy, Tanzania and the UK. 

All Vodafone Group employees will also join the Everywoman organisation to celebrate the day by virtually joining their ‘Gender Intelligence’ event being broadcast live online across the world by media company Sky.
