Teach For Qatar has announced that Ooredoo will be its newest Talent Sponsor, after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the company’s headquarters in West Bay this week.

The signing ceremony, which was headed by Mohammed Abdullah Fakhroo, CEO of Teach For Qatar, and Yousuf Al-Kubaisi, COO of Ooredoo Qatar, saw the companies agree to support each other as they both push to offer Ooredoo employees and students across Qatar world-class training. The agreement outlined Ooredoo as Teach For Qatar’s newest Talent Sponsor, enabling young professionals or managers across the company to take a placement at one of the many schools in Qatar, to impart their working knowledge and professional training on the children.

This partnership is a result of the commitment of both parties to help bridge the education gap in Qatar by contributing to the development of the local independent school system. Mr.Fakhroo commented: “Teach For Qatar continues to seek outstanding leaders, whether top graduates or talented professionals, who can act as role models in the classroom to positively impact student learning. Our partnership with Ooredoo enables Teach For Qatarto continue its efforts in improving the local education sector by acting as a part of the solution to some of the challenges facing Qatar’s students. We also look forward to establishing new partnerships with companies seeking to support our mission,by providing Teach For Qatar with access to their pool of talented Qatari employees.”

Al-Kubaisi added: “Ooredoo is committed to developing the local community and supporting the country’s growth as it strides forward to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030. We are delighted to partner with Teach For Qatar and assist in the organisation’s vision.Ooredoo takes pride in its talented pool of employees and supports their professional and personal development. We are happy to contribute our young professionals to Teach For Qatar’s placements, because it will not only benefit the community but will also help diversify and develop the leadership skills of our employees.”

Teach For Qatar’s partners also include the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Petroleum, Exxon Mobil Qatar, Qatar National Bank, Maersk Oil Qatar and Dolphin Energy. By training young leaders to positively impact students inside the classroom, Teach For Qatar, a local non-governmental organization, provides passionate graduates and professionals with an opportunity to give back to the country by placing them at independent schools for a two-year teaching and leadership development programme.

Following a successful first year, Teach For Qatar’s second set of hand-picked professionals started teaching at independent schools across the country in September 2015, with the start of the new academic year. Application for the Teach For Qatar 2015-2017 fellowship is now open.
