Qatar University College of Engineering (QU-CENG) signed a collaborative agreement with Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) to establish collaboration in the field of education, research, consultancy, and knowledge exchange. The collaborative agreement was signed by QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham and SC Secretary General H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi in the presence of officials from QU and SC.

The terms of the agreement include collaboration between both parties in the field of consultancy and research services to develop technological systems as requested by 2022 Security Committee. Both parties will also cooperate to implement several projects for the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar, such as Face Recognition in the Wild for FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar; Q-Falcons, a platform for identifying and controlling unauthorized flying drones; Real Time Intelligent Scene Analysis and Traffic Monitoring System; Intelligent ac Photovoltaic Module with Solid-state Batteries (IPAT) Qatar 2022; and Crowd Management and Control during an Emergency Evacuation Qatar 2022.

Commenting on the agreement, Dr Hassan Al Derham said: “The agreement underlines QU’s commitment to extend relations with both public and private sectors providing solutions to the daily challenges in response to Qatar National Vision 2030. This agreement will also serve to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and provide consultancy and research services, which will contribute to driving socio-economic development and sustainability in the State of Qatar.” H.E. Hassan Al Thawadi said: “This agreement refers to the commitment of SC to cooperate with QU in different research and consultancy areas including the security issues of 2022 towards the success of 2022 plans. QU’s role in launching the Khalifa Stadium was remarkable, and I am sure that today’s agreement will open new aspects of collaboration with QU. Such agreement represents a noticeable example of collaboration that can be invested in the post-tournament phase.”
