To celebrate the holy month of Ramadan and in an effort to bridge the relations and foster social bonds, Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) organized an internal football tournament for its employees, consultants and partners “Qatar Rail Football League (QRFL)”.

A total of 10 teams from Qatar Rail and its partners competed in the 9-day tournament, which kicked off during the second week of Ramadan. The final match witnessed a great challenge between the two finalists, Qatar Rail Team and Grey Team, who were keen on winning the first employees’ league.

The tightly-fought final game was won by the Qatar Rail team 4-3, while the third place was bagged by the Doha Metro team.

 The ten participating teams were:

  • Doha Metro
  • Long Distance
  • Redline Rovers
  • DBI
  • Not so Athletico
  • Al Saad All Stars
  • Enabling JV Team A
  • Enabling JV Team B
  • Grey Team

The football tournament received enthusiastic participation from employees,including the Chief Executive Officer Eng. Saad Ahmed Al Muhannadi and Deputy Chief Executive Officer Eng. Hamad Ibrahim Albeshri, who participated in the tournament reflecting upon high levels of sportsmanship and positive team spirit between all staffs and competing teams.

Mr. Saad Al Muhannadiafterawarding the trophy to the winning teams and medals to the participating teamspraised the tournament and he confirmed the importance of organizing such internal activities for the employees. “These activities and events have a significant positive impact inpositively enhancing communication, solidarity and team spirit between Qatar Rail’s staffs, management and project partners,” he said.

“Ramadan is a time to strengthen ties with family and friends and we are pleased to host this football league to show our appreciation to our employees and partners,” added Al Muhannadi.

“Qatar Rail is committed to launch many internal initiatives that promote and enhance cooperation among its employees. These activities include cultural, sports and social events that create goodwill among the staffs, and therefore, as a result a leading to a positive corporate environment at the company.”
