Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) will this week officially launch the first edition of ART Atelier, an art exhibition showcasing local and regional talent.

The exhibition will feature work from 15 local artists, as well as creative talent from across the Middle East. The opening ceremony takes place at the QF Recreation Centre within Education City at 6.30pm on Thursday 30th October. Organised by the QF, ART Atelier 2014 will continue until 8th November, and be open to the public.The event demonstrates Qatar Foundation’s dedication to supporting community development through culture and the arts which, in turn, supports the principles set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030. Once the exhibition is finished,Qatar Foundation will collaborate with a local charity to auction one of the paintings.

Ameera Mohammed Al Aji, Community Services Supervisor at Qatar Foundation Community Services, said about the event: “QF’s mission is to unlock human potential through a series of innovative events and community activities throughout the year. “By hosting the ART Atelier exhibition and showcasing the artists’ work, we hope to raise awareness of local talent across the Qatar Foundation community and the wider public. We believe an event like this will help build a creative space for the community that is removed from the pressures of everyday life.”

The art work for the exhibition was created during a series of interactive demonstrations which enabled participating artists to showcase various techniques and discuss their work. Each artist prepared two canvasses specially for the exhibition. The artists participating in the inaugural event are Ahmed Al-Asadi, Hanadi Al-Darwish, Ali Al-Kuwari, Mohammed Al-Dosari, Hessa Kalla, Mubarak Al Malik, Faisal Al-Abdulla, Moza Al-Kuwari, Thamer Al-Dossari, Jawaher Al-Mannai, Mohammad Al-Saad, Sheikha Hamda Al-Thani, Muna Bo-Jassom, Masoud Al-Bloshi, and Jameela Al-Ansari.
