Qatar Airways, the national airline of the State of Qatar,in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Blood Bank, held its annual blood donation campaign recently at the airline’s head office in Doha. This is the fourth year that the airline has partnered with HMC Blood Bank to help provide the gift of life for those with emergency blood needs.

Qatar Airways’ staff, who met the strict donor criteria, were encouraged to donate as part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the local community. As a result, the blood donation campaign saw more than a 40% increase in staff donor volunteers from 2013. Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said:“I am very pleased to see just how many of our staff turned out to support the blood donation campaign. By supporting the hard work of the Hamad Medical Corporation Blood Bank, we are also supporting our local community and helping to address the emergency needs for all those that call this great city home.”

The Qatar Airways Group Medical Services team has played a key role in the coordination of the yearly blood donation campaign since it partnered with HMC Blood Bank four years ago. During this year’s campaign, the Group Medical Services staff including the Head of Medical Services, as well as administrative and nursing staff, were on hand to supervise, answer staff questions, register candidates, and assess suitability for donation as well as guiding volunteers through each step of the process.

For those that wish to donate, the HMC Blood Donor Unit is situated at the Hamad Medical Corporation near Sports Roundabout, and can be contacted on 44391081 or 44391082.
