Ooredoo announced it is the Official Sponsor of Aspire International Kite Festival, being held at Aspire Park from 6-9 March 2019.

The event – being held for the third year running – is hosted by Aspire Zone Foundation and is set to attract more than 80 entries from Qatar, the wider Gulf region and further afield. There are four titles up for grabs: Best Design and Innovation;  Biggest Kite; Longest Kite; and Best National Flag. Teams from China, France, Pakistan and Mexico walked away with the trophies in 2018. The 2019 edition of the Festival will also feature more than 13 government and private schools competing in their annual Schools Competition, with hundreds of children also taking part in the festival’s lively activities, workshops and site visits.

As part of the sponsorship, Ooredoo will ensure its award-winning Supernet will be available across all of Aspire Park so all visitors and members of the media can stay connected to high-speed internet throughout the event. Manar Khalifa Al-Muraikhi, Director PR and Corporate Communications at Ooredoo, said of the sponsorship: “We’re delighted to once again be supporting such a family-friendly event in Qatar, in line with our corporate social responsibility strategy. The kite festival is one which puts us on the international map, drawing entries from all corners of the globe, and we look forward to seeing some interesting, innovative kites on the day!”

This sponsorship is the latest of many in 2019, as Ooredoo reinforces its commitment to supporting sports and community events that benefit the communities in which it operates.
