The Minister of Municipality and Environment H E Muhamed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi, who participated in the Moscow Urban Forum, held in the Russian capital under the title “Megacity of the Future: New Space for Living”, briefed the participants on the urban development of the State of Qatar, as well as the country’s ongoing and rapid urban development plans, which take into account Qatar’s hosting of the FIFA World Cup in 2022.

In his speech in the forum, H E the Minister said that these development plans derive their main features from the second phase of Qatar National Vision 2030. H E the Minister of Municipality and Environment touched on what has been achieved in the areas of infrastructure, transportation, smart city and stadiums which will held World Cup matches, pointing to Qatar’s transformation into a knowledge economy and other scientific and cultural transformations, and its interest in investing in Qatari people.

On the sidelines of his participation in the forum, H E the Minister of Municipality and Environment met with the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, H E the Minister also met with Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development and Construction, Marat Khusnullin. During the two meetings, they discussed ways of cooperation in the field of large construction and infrastructure and benefiting from the vast and contemporary experience gained by the Russian capital by hosting the 2018 World Cup.

H E the Minister is accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Municipality and Environment to discuss plans and organise the work of public hygiene and waste treatment in the Russian capital during the organisation of the last World Cup edition which ended on Sunday.
