Vietnam's Ambassador to Qatar HE Nguyen Hoang has expressed his country's interest in developing and strengthening cooperation with Qatar in the fields of tourism and real estate.

In an interview with Qatar Tribune on Thursday, the envoy mentioned Qatar Airways' plans to increase frequencies of flights to Vietnam from next year, which he said, would likely open doors of opportunities for cooperation between the two countries. Currently, Qatar's flag carrier has 28 flights per week from Doha to Vietnam and vice versa. He added that Vietnam is also looking at bringing in more food products to Qatar, such as coffee and fruits.

"With Qatar Airways offering world-class service, tourism is one of the focus areas that we want to develop in near future. Along with tourism, we are also eyeing Qatari investments in Vietnam's booming real estate sector, such as in luxury hotels and resorts," the envoy said. He added,"Vietnam has seen consistent growth in the past few years owing to the continuous inflow of foreign direct investment, strengthening domestic business cycle and a supportive policy environment. For Vietnamese ventures, we are exploring to export new food products to Qatar."

Talking about the diplomatic relations between Qatar and Vietnam, he said that the two countries enjoy friendly relationship, which has strengthened over the years with enhanced cooperation. He mentioned in this regard the regular exchange of visits of official delegations between the two countries including the visit of Vietnam's health minister to Qatar to take part in the World Innovation Summit of Health (WISE) in Doha and the visit of a delegation from Qatar's Ministry of Economy and Commerce to Vietnam to attend the second Government Joint Commission on Economic, Commercial and Technical Cooperation.

"Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Qatar have seen significant progress in friendship and cooperation. The cooperation between the two countries has strengthened in different fields including politics, economics, investment, culture and sports in the recent years", he said. "As we gear up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Qatar and Vietnam in 2018, we are expecting many delegations and mutual visits between the two countries next year," the Vietnamese envoy said.

He also mentioned the plan to organise Vietnamese Food and Culture Festival at Intercontinental City Center Doha next year and the official invitation extended by Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam to their counterparts in Qatar to visit the Southeast Asian country. Meanwhile, the envoy said that the Vietnam Embassy will be hosting a community gathering for its nationals on Friday to celebrate Vietnam National Day. The event, which officially falls on September 2, is being held ahead of time as it will be coinciding Eid Al Adha celebrations.

He added," As Eid Al Adha is approaching, I would like to extend my sincere wishes for a happy and peaceful Eid for all Qatari, Vietnamese and other expats living in Qatar. Also, on this occasion I would like to welcome all of you to Vietnam the destination of timeless charm."
