The Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, recently launched the exhibition showcasing pictures taken for the “Career Video and Photography Competition”. Being held at Katara Building 18, the exhibition will last till 7th February 2017 and is organised in collaboration with the “Youth Hobbies Center” and “Entube Center”.

The registration for “Career Video and Photography Competition was announced in October 2016 and lasted till 21 December 2016, where all applicants submitted their photos and videos by that date. The contest is aimed at highlighting all existing professions in the state of Qatar and encourage all photography and videography aficionados to showcase these through their lenses in order to increase awareness about the diverse professions and careers existing in Qatar. On this occasion, Reem Al-Suwaidi, General Manager of Bedaya Center said: "Photography is an elegant art and one of the most important tools to introduce and promote all professions. Therefore, the primary objective of the contest is to have inspirational photos and videos that can motivate the viewers. In addition, it is the best platform to showcase talents and creations of all the 45 contestants participating in this exhibition."

After the exhibition’s opening, Reem Al-Suwaidi, General Manager of Bedaya Center, distributed certificates and prizes to the winners. The winner of the photography contest received QR 20000, while the first runner-up received QR 15000, and the second runner-up received QR 10000. For the videography contest, the winner received QR 20000, while the first runner-up received QR 15000 and the second runner-up QR 10000. Ronald, Mohamed Al Yafeai and Aisha Al Ansari were declared winners of the photography contest and were placed in the first, second and third positions, respectively. The winners of the videography contest included Mohamed Al Amin and Mazen Sahfii in the first place for their video titled “khorshed”, while the second place went to Fatima Mohamed for her video titled “Social Media”. Ahmed Al Yafeai was placed third for his video titled “Agriculture”.

Mrs. Lulwa Al Kubaisi from Youth Hobbies Center: "The Youth Hobbies Center through its collaboration with Bedaya Center works on youth development and harness their creativity through various hobbies to introduce diverse professions, nevertheless supporting photographers.” “We also reaffirm our commitment to supporting talent, besides raising their capabilities and developing their skills through such initiatives and activities. This activity is within the Ministry of Culture and Sports' strategy to promote the community’s awareness of the needs and interests of young people,” added Al Kubaisi.

Speaking on the occasion, Khaled Al Zokri from EnTube Center said: "Our center provides the space needed for talented and passionate youth interested in self-publishing on new media platforms. Our collaboration with Bedaya Center today stems from our vision, which aims to develop young people interested in the capabilities of modern media by participating in such competitions. This is in addition to the establishment of training courses on modern media facilities and the provision of technical services to support talented young people so that they can achieve their goals in the use of social media to get connected with their community.”
