Held under the patronage of HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the state of Qatar, the 12th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE) drew some of the world’s iconic jewellery & watches brands recognised for their exquisiteness in the high-end jewellery & watch manufacturing industry. Hosted by Qatar Tourism Authority, Events and Fira Barcelona at the Qatar National Convention Centre, the exhibition will run through February 28.

Participating at the exhibition for the fourth consecutive year, Parmigiani Fleurier showcased its latest timepieces and complications hand in hand with exclusive retailer Al Majed. Featuring limited edition complications including an Ovale Tourbillon, Toric Capitole Wave, Kalpa XL Tourbillon Meteorite and a Bugatti Super Sport, the Doha show is also an opportunity to bring out new collection staples like the latest Tonda 1950 Squelette. All Parmigiani Fleurier watches at the show are testimony to the unique craftsmanship and exquisite manufacturing expertise encapsulated in each timepiece, for which each component was produced in-house in the verticalised Parmigiani Fleurier Manufacture in Switzerland.

When talking about meticulously crafted timepieces, it's not all that often that Patek Philippe introduces an entirely new concept, but here at the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition 2015, it brought in a masterpiece, the Gondolo5200; a real purist's watch that combines traditional styling with a beautiful manually-wound 8-day movement, all while including Patek's latest technological innovations.

Other exclusive timepieces to be displayed at the fair include the latest GMT 5N Movement GREUBEL FORSEY timepiece, which is limited to just 22 pieces;1815 "200th Anniversary F. A. Lange" limited-edition timepiece that was presented along with selected novelties and watches from the current collection; Jaeger-LeCoultre’s heavenly SIHH 2015 collection; Bell & Ross’s variety of models from the new collection for men and women who prefer the utmost precision in time keeping; and El Primero Helios Grande Date Moon &Sunphase presented by Zenith for the first time in the Middle East region, which has been issued a 15-hour serial number from 1 to 15 with the word Qatar for Qatari watch devotees and is exclusively available at Blue Salon.

With an impeccable lineage in jewels, home-grown luxury brand Qela and luxury jeweller Mouawad took visitors by surprise. The Qatar Luxury Group’s (QLG) Qela showcased its exclusive pieces designed using natural local pearls collected from pearl farms in Ras Laffan, and partnered with Qatar Pearl Company Legacy. Mouawad, the luxury jeweller and watchmaker announced the introduction of Silhouette Collection, the newest addition to its exquisite line of jewellery. Inspired by the ingenious precepts of geometry, Silhouette pays homage to the art of gemology with amazingly simple shapes of squares, circles, ovals and pears. By selecting only the finest diamonds through a meticulous process, Mouawad ensures compatibility, colour and clarity are uniform throughout each piece and offers a delicate range of jewellery handcrafted in 18k white and rose gold and encrusted with brilliant white diamonds.

The house of Jaipur Gems who participated for the first time at DJWE, hypnotised visitors with their  “Dal Lake Collection”, Jaipur Gems’ signature line created by Siddhartha which is inspired by the beauty of Kashmir, a state in India’s northern region. It incorporates delicate motifs such as the lotus and the peacock. Besides, Jewellery designer Suzanne Kalan also participating for the first time,exhibited her award winning creations that include her ground-breaking Vitrine collection and Fireworks Baguettes collection, which are representative of her cutting-edge designs. Her collections are distinctive with a hint of edginess that truly brings a new meaning to contemporary and timeless jewellery.

Special features are put in place in order to offer visitors as much comfort and enjoyment as possible. In this regard, volunteers from the Qatari non-profit organization Sawaid are present at the venue throughout, where they are efficiently contributing to facilitate visitor’s registration and guiding them around the venue. Organisers have arranged a fleet of electric golf carts at their disposal to go around the massive premises. Once inside the venue, they will be awestruck by the breathtakingly beautiful ambience, the high-standard amenities and of course the glittering affair of immaculate pieces of high-end jewellery and haute horlogerie.
