Education Above All (EAA) foundation, through its programme Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) in collaboration with the Social Development Center (SDC), have recently carried out renovation works at a house in Al Wakra as part of its ‘Reach into Qatar’ campaign. Both national and non-national volunteers took part in the community development initiative, which extends social development assistance to families in need across the country.

As part of the community development project funded by Da’am, the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund, 40 youth volunteers assisted in completing a full makeover of the family home. Volunteers restored 5 bedrooms, 2 Majlis, 1 Living room, and 1 kitchen. “I have been involved in previous ROTA house renovations and was able to see first-hand the effect the renovation of a house can have on the living conditions of a family,” commented Isra ElWadia, a ROTA volunteer. “I am always keen to get involved with the ‘Reach into Qatar’ initiative, as there are many families outside our capital city in need of assistance.”

The ‘Reach into Qatar’ initiative aims to transform the living conditions of underprivileged families while offering youth volunteers the opportunity to provide community service support. The project focuses on activities that engage volunteers in renovation or upgrading of houses of families in need. In addition, the project also includes infrastructure maintenance, which necessarily involves the need to have a professional contracting company during the course of work. Hazem Idriss, Volunteers Outreach Specialist, EAA highlighted the importance of this project, stating:

"Responding to the real priorities of local communities in need, the 'Reach Into Qatar' initiative continues to make a positive and meaningful impact in targeted communities, and seeks to educate, engage and encourage all sectors of the community to participate in the spirit of volunteerism and community work in Qatar. "We are lucky to have partnered, since two years ago, with an invaluable partner, the Gulf Contracting Company (GCC). GCC has a long established commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility that they actively support with funds, technical expertise, human resources, as well as material resources. ROTA is exceptionally grateful for the essential role that the GCC has played in this project," Hazem added.
