Qatargas has recently supported an under-9 ice hockey tournament, organised by the Qatar Minor Ice Hockey Association (QMIHA) at the Villagio Ice Rink. Qatargas is the Pearl Sponsor of QMIHA’s 2015-2016 Ice Hockey Season tournaments. Hamad Al Awi, Head of Business Support at Qatargas’ Public Relations Department, attended the prize distribution ceremony of the championship which included teams Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia (Dhahran), and Qatar. 

The tournament included three divisions of play with teams competing at different skill levels ("A", "B", and "C" divisions). In the "A" division, Dubai Sandstorms won the gold medal defeating Abu Dhabi Storms with a score of 5-4. In the "B" division, Qatar Raiders bagged the title by defeating Dubai Sandstorms with the final score being 3-1. In the "C" division, Dhahran Saad Falcons bagged the title defeating Qatar Raiders 4-1.

Operated by volunteers, QMIHA focuses on community service and promoting sports for our youth. The 2015-16 Ice Hockey Season began in September 2015 and offers ice-hockey for both boys and girls from age 5 (beginners) right through to under 18s (bantam).
