Cars Taxi, one of the region's largest taxi franchise operators, in partnership with Qatar-headquartered Profit Trading & Contracting Company (Profit Group) have launched Qatar's latest taxi service under the auspices of Qatar's ubiquitous Karwa taxi brand.

During the inauguration ceremony, the company unveiled the 'lemon yellow' color system that will be used on the roof of the company's cars, distinguishing them from the other Karwa operators who each have their own distinctly colored roof in a predominantly turquoise fleet.

Mr. Abdulla Sultan Al Sabbagh, Group Executive Director, Cars Taxi Group, said: "500 vehicles will be added to the fleet in phase one followed by 300 cars. We have committed to ensuring a high level of service to our customers and have implemented a driver training program that scrutinizes and assesses drivers from recruitment to arrival in Qatar. Cars Taxi's professional trainers provide intensive training course to drivers for 21 days covering locations, traffic rules and regulations, defensive driving, lane discipline and customer service before certifying the drivers for the road.

The joint venture with Cars Taxi ensures that Profit Trading allow customers to benefit from the experience and technology infrastructure of the region's biggest and most successful taxi operator. On behalf of Profit Trading and Cars Taxi, I would like to thank Mowasalat for their enduring support and for the trust placed in us to deliver a high-value service."

Mr. Abdulla Sultan Al Sabbagh said "Advanced Mobile Data Terminals or MDTs are available on each car, inclusive of meters, navigation systems, taxi tracking and dispatch systems, as well as a speed monitoring system allowing a maximum speed limit of 100 km per hour within city limits. In order to serve customers professionally, we have a customer care office at our depot to handle customer complaints and lost & found incidents." He added: "Our vehicles are washed and cleaned daily. The drivers remit their collection via a “drive through payment system”, and vehicles and drivers are inspected before leaving the taxi station for damage, cleanliness and driver grooming, to ensure every aspect of the customer experience is maintained at the highest level. We also ensure that all taxis are 100% metered and are based on the tariffs prescribed by Mowasalat for all operators."

In the future, Cars Taxi's plans include operating "airport taxis” with the support of Mowasalat, as well as bringing to Qatar an initiative that has proven very successful in the UAE - the “hybrid” taxi. The company aims to introduce hybrid vehicles to support a greener environment very soon. Also in the pipeline are “taxis for families and women” as well as “special needs vehicles” to cater to the handicapped.
