Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC) are set to battle it out in the final match of the Qatar Football Association (QFA) and Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) University League. The match will take place at 7pm on Thursday, 25th February, at QF’s Recreation Center, Pitch 1.

The University League, a joint initiative launched in 2013, showcases QFA and QF’s aim to raise awareness about the importance of football through community initiatives. In-line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV2030), the collaboration demonstrates a commitment to shaping a sports-loving society. Last year, QU and QAC competed against each other in the final match of the league, and the result saw QU clinch the tournament title after winning 2-1.

This year, both teams qualified again after playing strong and exciting semifinal games last week. QU won 4-0 against Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), while QAC beat Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) 6-5 in a penalty shootout. Additionally, the third place playoff will be played at 6pm on the same pitch between CMUQ and TAMUQ.

The third edition has brought together nine colleges and universities from across Qatar to compete for the championship title. This year’s tournament featured two groups. Group A included Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (GUQ), Qatar Aeronautical College (QAC), Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), and Qatar University (QU). Group B included the University of Calgary in Qatar, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ), College of the North Atlantic Qatar (CNA-Q), Weill Cornell Medicine- Qatar (WCM-Q), and Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ).
