HE Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani affirmed that Qatar has achieved most of the development goals for 2015, stressing Qatar's full commitment to achieve the post-2015 sustainable development goals in accordance with its national policies and priorities. This came in a speech delivered by HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation before a UN high-level meeting held in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda.

His Excellency reiterated Qatar's commitment to be an active partner to promote efforts aimed at achieving sustainable development goals and plans at national and international levels, pointing out that the achievement of the post-2015 development goals can only be through collective action and real partnership. He underscored the importance of the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda at the UN summit for sustainable development, saying the plan aims to eradicate poverty and hunger, protect human rights, and promote gender equality, in addition to securing permanent protection for our planet and natural resources by 2030.

HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani also stressed the importance of moving from dialogue to collective work in order to implement the global sustainable development agenda, saying that this depends on a set of factors, including provision of necessary means of implementation, promoting effective international partnership to achieve development goals, taking into account economic, social and environmental conditions as well as the need to respect national policies and priorities.
