Qatar Airways is delighted to reveal a special Mothers’ Day video, highlighting the role a mother plays in ensuring her child’s journey through life is a safe one. The video, published on the award-winning airline’s social media channels on Mother’s Day, honours all mothers for the important part they play in ensuring the safety of their children.

This inspiring new video, using the airline’s safety instructions as inspiration, depicts scenes of a child securely putting away toys in the toy box and switching off electronic devices before sleeping, illustrating the key role all mothers play in making sure their children’s environment is safe and secure. Qatar Airways Senior Vice President Marketing and Corporate Communications, Ms. Salam Al Shawa, said: “We are delighted to publish this emotional video on Mothers’ Day, as it pays special tribute to the important role mothers play in providing for the safety of their children. As an airline, we are delighted to welcome both parents and children on board, and to ensure that their journey is both enjoyable and inspiring. Qatar Airways wishes all mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day.”

Earlier this week, Qatar Airways launched an exciting new initiative for children, the Oryx Kids Club, a special frequent flyer programme designed for the airline’s youngest travellers. Oryx Kids Club gives children the opportunity to enjoy value-added benefits while traveling with Qatar Airways, including the ability to earn Qmiles, which can be redeemed for attractive awards. Parents will play a key role to enrol their children in the programme and assist them in managing their accounts, making this an exciting opportunity for both parents and children to experience together.

The Oryx Kids Club and Oryx Kids Loyalty Programme will also offer special new children’s in-flight meal boxes and plush toys on board, featuring Qatar Airways’ new hero mascots, twin brother and sister Orry and Orah the oryx, and their friends Kamil the camel, Faaiz the falcon and Farah the desert fox. The fun new hero mascots will feature on the airline’s website, in marketing material and in all the literature and activity packs given to children when they fly long-haul, as well as at special appearances at Hamad International Airport (HIA). All parents need to do is register with the Oryx Kids Club at www.qatarairways.com.qa as part of the booking process, to make sure their children can join in all the fun on board.

Qatar Airways enjoyed a record-breaking year in 2017, claiming more than 50 individual awards across multiple categories, demonstrating its continued commitment to exceeding passenger expectations with its innovative approach to product development and dedication to customer experience.

Leading the host of awards received by the airline last year is the prestigious accolade of 2017 ‘Airline of the Year,’ awarded by the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards, which was held at the Paris Air Show. This is the fourth time that Qatar Airways has been given this global recognition. In addition to being voted Best Airline by travellers from around the world, Qatar’s national carrier also won a raft of other major awards at the ceremony, including ‘Best Airline in the Middle East,’ ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.

Earlier this month, Qatar Airways revealed a host of forthcoming global destinations in line with its expedited expansion plans, including the announcement that it will be the first Gulf carrier to begin direct service to Luxembourg. Other exciting new destinations to be launched by the airline include London Gatwick and Cardiff, United Kingdom; Lisbon, Portugal; Tallinn, Estonia; Valletta, Malta; Cebu and Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum, Antalya and Hatay, Turkey; Mykonos and Thessaloniki, Greece and Málaga, Spain.
