Qatar’s Al-Arabi and Egypt’s Al-Ahli have advanced to the final of “The 12th Player Tournament” after triumphing in their respective semi-final matches against the fan associations from QSL’s Al-Gharafa and Italy’s Serie A side, A.S. Roma.

The first semi-final match between Al-Ahli and A.S. Roma took place on Monday at 7:30 pm, with Egypt’s Red Devils securing their spot in the final thanks to an easy 6-1 win. In the second game at 8:45, both Al-Arabi and Al-Gharafa fought hard throughout. Such was the strength of the defensive game that there were no goals in ordinary time and the match was only settled through a dramatic penalty shootout, with Al-Arabi’s goalkeeper vital in securing their 4-3 win.

Al- Gharafa and A.S. Roma remain in the competition for third place, however, and face-off tomorrow at 7:30 pm. The main event - the final of the tournament - will then kick-off at 8:45 pm. To gain access to the final, football fans must purchase tickets at 10 riyals each from the entrance to Aspire Park, near the Burgeri restaurant. In addition to a thrilling game of football, would-be ticketholders have the added incentive to buy because they will become eligible to participate in a draw for prizes from carmaker Nissan and a range of other companies.
