Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ carried on the week-long celebrations for Qatar National Day (QND) in the Ashghal Heritage Village. Senior leadership including H.E Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, Eng. Abdulla Hamad Al-Atiyya, Assistant President, directors, managers and Ashghal staff participated in the major events of the closing day celebrations on Thursday, 14 December 2017.

In this context, HE Eng. Saad bin Ahmed Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal asserted that Ashghal's participation in the QND celebration is to  express loyalty, and to renew our allegiance to the wise leadership of the State who has spared no effort to preserve the nation's capabilities and resurgence. HE Ashghal President highlighted that Ashghal’s QND celebration this year focused on reviving the national heritage in a novel form.

The celebration events included activities related to the Qatari heritage, participation of school students who presented entertainment pieces and stories, in addition to the Ashghal Village that covered major share of the events including various stage shows. The events also included a live show of Qatari crafts and activities for children related to the theme "Ashghal in the eyes of our children", narrating the role of Ashghal to the children. Students from 16 schools of primary and preparatory levels received a warm welcome in the Ashghal village.

As part of QND celebrations, Ashghal has previously launched the “Al Majd Thumbprint” mural board which was distributed in parts at the premises of Ashghal buildings to express Ashghal employees’ love for Qatar. HE the President, Asst President, directors, managers and a lot of Ashghal staff marked their thumbprints on the mural. These thumbprints were collected together to form the complete mural that was exhibited during the closure program of celebrations.

Ashghal has chosen the Cultural Village to celebrate QND in order to showcase Qatar's heritage and to revive the history of sacrifices of the sons of this noble country. The event aims at acquainting the new generations with the legacy of forefathers with the spirit of their children, and to revive the spirit of belongingness and patriotism, and resonating the words of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir, who said "We require diligence, creativity, independent thinking, constructive initiatives and interest in academic achievement in all disciplines, self-reliance and fighting indolence and dependency..”These words reflects the qualities that we entrusted to our forefathers who worked hard and traversed across waters and deserts in their efforts to develop Qatar.
