Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday visited the Kahramaa Awareness Park, part of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) at Al Hilal.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the facilities in the park and the programmes and services offered to the visitors as a centre for science, knowledge, plans and future goals, as well as a presentation on the services and technologies offered as a platform for science and its awareness and entertainment role. The Prime Minister was also briefed on the techniques and regulations of electricity and water consumption rationalisation, which reflects Kahramaa's role in the social responsibility to support the state's development of in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Prime Minister toured the park and the Dana Dome, which showcases 3D film about the importance of water and energy. He also listened to an explanation for the life cycle of a drop of water and how to get and save it. The Prime Minister made a trip to the power station that uses Virtual Reality Technology, in addition to the climate change and water areas. The tour also included a visit to the Islamic corner which shows the role of Islam in achieving sustainability, and to the research and renewable energy area and he had listened to an explanation about its importance in the diversity of energy sources and the reduction of carbon emissions. Integrated models to create sustainable buildings through advanced techniques were also shown to the Premier.

He toured the external yard of the park, which includes many supportive models of sustainability and renewable energy such as, the solar, wind and thermal energy, and it is the only building in the state that uses three different energy sources.
