Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation and Qatar’s leading developer of sustainable and innovative projects, hosted the 4th annual Risk Management Forum at the Qatar Convention Centre on 19th November.  The forum was attended by representatives of a wide range of sectors and industries.

This year’s forum focused on building resilience and adding value through risk management whilst also exploring the subject of risk culture and the human factor. The forum also discussed issues in relation to their impact on the Gulf region more generally. The forum featured panel discussions and parallel sessions along with excellent presentations highlighting the themes of the conference.  Additional topics such as adapting international standards regionally, public consultation in setting standards, encouraging learning and creativity in organisation to quickly adapt were debated.

Some of the panellists that led the sessions were:

 

  • Aarn Wennekers, from the Ministry of Energy;
  • Howard Mannella, Managing Principal Alternative Resiliency Services Corporation;
  • Carlo Loveri, BC/DR Business Manager;
  • Rahat Latif, Head of Enterprise Risk Management;
  • Domenic Antonucci, Chief Risk Officer;
  • Eddie McLaughlin, Chief Commercial Officer EMEA at AON.

A number of critical topics and key issues were also addressed by a number of influential speakers attending including Business Resilience Governance, Reassessing the effectiveness of ERM, Risk Culture, as well as how to plan for unplannable events. Commenting on the forum, Eng.
