The Ministry of Interior (MoI), represented by the Juvenile Police Department, participated yesterday in the International Congress on Child Abuse and Neglect, organised by Sidra Medicine in cooperation with the International Society for Preventing Child Abuse and Neglect from February 15 to 17  2020, at the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel & Villas.

The congress, in which a group of specialists and experts in the field participate, aims to exchange knowledge and raise awareness about child protection issues in the region and the world, building the capacity of key workers across the various stakeholders in order to stop child abuse and address it. It also aims to explore challenges and exchange innovative ideas to prevent child abuse and to strengthen cooperation between local multidisciplinary teams and international organizations to enhance data collection and research. It also discusses family support and the rehabilitation of victims of child abuse.

The Juvenile Police Department will present a paper on ‘the role of the police in the investigation of child abuse and neglect’, where a number of important points in this field will be discussed, in line with the department’s plan to spread awareness and enrich the culture of community members towards dealing with juveniles.
