The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Center for Environmental and Municipal Studies (CEMS), in cooperation with Bircham International University, organised an open day on the universities' role in promoting scientific research and community service.

In a speech during the event, CEMS Director Dr Mohammed Saif al Kuwari said the programme stems from the importance of scientific culture as education is a fundamental pillar of progress and has a great impact on the service of society and the nation. It also provides an opportunity to utilise the resources available in the country in all aspects, advancing development to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2017-2022.

Dr Kuwari added that the MME is keen on promoting knowledge and scientific research, pointing out that from this perspective the Center has launched the open day programme with universities in collaboration with educational and research universities, inside and outside the country, which includes Bircham International University. For his part, Acting President of Bircham University Dr Khaled Mahmoud Abdullatif said that modern educational systems emphasise the basic issues of human interest in a holistic and integrated manner, pointing out that the important activities that universities should emphasise and activate seriously are scientific conferences, specialised seminars and symposiums.
