The ‘Aspire Banks Tournament’, organised by Aspire Zone Foundation in collaboration with Qatar Central Bank, concluded its sixth week with five thrilling matches between some of the tournament’s leading teams.

Week six of the popular tournament saw Group A teams Standard Chartered Bank play Barwa Bank and International Bank of Qatar play Qatar Central Bank. Meanwhile, Group B teams Qatar National Bank played Qatar Islamic Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank took on Ahli Bank and Mashreq Bank played Masraf Al Rayyan. After the latest round, Barwa Bank lead Group A with 12 points after a 4-2 win against fourth-place Standard Chartered. Qatar Central Bank remained in second place despite a remarkable 7-3 win against sixth-place International Bank of Qatar.

In Group B, Masraf Al Rayyan took the lead with 12 points in five games after securing a well-deserved 5-4 win against Mashreq Bank, who currently rank fifth. Meanwhile, the match between Qatar National Bank and Qatar Islamic Bank ended in a draw, leaving the former in second place, temporarily, and the latter in third. Ahli Bank moved into fourth after winning against Qatar International Islamic Bank with a score of 4-2. In the 7th and final week of qualifying, which takes place next Saturday December 17th, Group A will see Qatar Central Bank play Barwa Bank, International Bank of Qatar play Commercial Bank and Standard Chartered play Doha Bank. Group B will see Mashreq Bank play Qatar Islamic Bank and Qatar International Islamic Bank play Qatar National Bank.

Running every Saturday from November 2016 – January 2016, the Aspire Banks Tournament sees strong competition between members of staff from twelve banks across Qatar. The qualifying rounds take place until December 17th, whereas the quarterfinals, semi-finals and final will take place in the first and second weeks of January 2017.
