Katara launched Friday its solidarity festival in support from Gaza, in cooperation with Qatari Red Crescent, Qatar TV, Al Rayyan TV and Q-media. Thousands of visitors attended the festival held at the Katara Amphitheatre. The festival will comprise of reciting history, playing songs as well as holding art exhibits by Qatari, Palestinian and Saudi artists. 

The Qatari Red Crescent and Katara had launched together a campaign to collect donations for the people of Gaza. Donations could be made by phone or at one of the Red Crescent's check points and offices. General Manager of Katara Khalid Ibrahim Al Sulaiti said today that the festival is held to aid the Palestinian people in Gaza, who are living a horrific humanitarian crisis. He added that holding the festival reflected Katara's role in supporting humanitarian causes that promote charitable and aid work.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Al Sulaiti stressed that the humanitarian campaign to help the people in Gaza will not stop. He extended his thanks to restaurants in Katara and Aspire Zone who supported the charitable work head on. Katara's General Manager said that they will make an announcement Saturday on the amount raised during the campaign, which was organized in cooperation with Qatar Red Crescent and other organizations such as Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services and Eid Charity.
