Katara Cultural Village concluded the “Batik Art” workshop at Building 19. The three-day workshop delivered by artist Hamad Al Mutawah trained participants on the techniques of illustrating and painting textile.

According to Al Mutawah the workshop had a summer theme where the trainees designed bags with their own choice of images related to the summer season. “Since this workshop is a summer activity, we are using illustrations such as palm trees, beach, ice-cream and anything related to summer,” he said. He added that this kind of art had been attracting more and more people as three new participants had joined the workshop and were progressing well. “We are preparing these trainees to improve their skills to participate in the (Ajyal) festival this coming November in which I am also participating with some traditional designs inspired by our heritage,” he said.
