Katara Doha Film Institute Cinema presents the highly acclaimed Georgian coming-of-age drama, ‘In Bloom’, screening daily at 7:00pm from Thursday June 12th to Wednesday June 18th at Katara Drama Theatre Building 16. Set in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi in 1992, ‘In Bloom’ is a coming-of-age story about two young women who challenge societal customs to escape their turbulent family lives. The Georgian entry for 2014’s Best Foreign Language Film, the film is the directorial debut of Nana Ekvtimishvili and Simon Grob, and is based on Ekvtimishvili’s memories of childhood while growing up in 1992 war-torn Georgia.

‘In Bloom’ premiered at the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival in 2013 where it was widely heralded as the birth of a new wave of Georgian cinema. It went on to win more than 15 major awards including the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Film at the Sarajevo Film Festival. Variety magazine named the directors among the ten most promising European directors to watch. Tickets are now on sale at www.dohafilminstitute.com and at the DFI Ticket Outlet, (Katara Building 26). Tickets are priced at QAR 35 for general public and a special discounted rate of QAR 25 for students.
