IKEA recently launched a mobile phone application and a mobile-friendly version of its Qatar website to enhance the experience of customers who interact with the brand on their smart devices.

While Apple and Android mobile device users can find this free-to-download app at the App Store and Google Play, those on other operating systems can visit the mobile-friendly website which makes the browsing experience seamless and smooth.

“Almost a thirty percent of our web site visits in 2012 came from mobiles and tablets. We expect to see this percentage continue to rise in the future as smart mobile device penetration in Qatar keeps growing,” said John Kersten (pictured), Managing Director, IKEA - Qatar, UAE, Egypt & Oman.

“Smartphones are gradually transforming consumer behaviours globally and the IKEA mobile application is our answer to the fast changing retail landscape. Our current offering allows consumers to browse through our expansive collection and plan their trip to IKEA from the comfort of their homes. In the future, we hope to be a part of a mobile commerce environment where mobile payment and self-scanning solutions will make creating your perfect home even easier.”

IKEA has created this mobile-friendly version of the website to enhance user experience. Customers can now browse over 5,000 products, check product information and stock availability and even scan barcodes to create offline shopping lists making shopping faster and more convenient.

Other features include store finder using Google maps, opening hours and contact details - all designed to help consumers enjoy a seamless and productive visit at the IKEA store.

“Shopping at IKEA is an engaging experience and with this app, we are catering to those who would like to plan their day at IKEA as well as get inspired anywhere they are. We hope that the new website version will significantly enhance the online experience of customers who rely mostly on their smartphones for their internet browsing needs and form the basis for a bold new digital retail future,” said John.

The IKEA mobile app is free to download and is available on App Store and Google Play and the mobile website is at http://m.ikea.qa/.
