Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition (Heya), Qatar’s leading platform for contemporary Arabian fashion creations, held an exclusive preview event to showcase some of its participating designers’ collections on Sunday 2nd of October at Official Partner Hotel Intercontinental Doha, The City. The pre-launch event took place ahead of the main exhibition which will take place from the 26th – 30th October 2016 at Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC).

Speaking at the press conference, Qomasha Al Jabor, Head of Exhibition Technical Support Section at QTA, said, “QTA is committed to forming alliances with the public sector that in turn enable the private sector to develop enterprises that support tourism. Ibtihaj Alahmadani, Qatar Chamber said, “Qatar Chamber is keen to support the private sector in Qatar, in particular businesswomen, to encourage them to develop their talents and skills. In recent years Qatari businesswomen have made considerable achievements in various sectors and many are becoming successful entrepreneurs. This is something we want to encourage and nurture and events such as Heya play an important role, providing up and coming fashion designers with a platform to showcase their talents.”

Jawaher Alkuwari, Head of Advisory Committee in Design Creationz commented, “We are delighted to soon be launching the tenth edition of Heya. We have just finished tours in the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait and are pleased to say that the buzz and excitement around Heya is growing each year. More and more designers from both Qatar and the region are keen to take part, giving visitors the unique opportunity to see the very best in Arabian fashion under one roof and over five exciting days.” A fashion show featuring the designs of Debaj Collection, Kaali, Jolly Luxury, Ashghal Kuwaitia, Dar Naseem Alandalos, Classic Veil and Jo LaMode provided a grand finale to the preview event. The collections gave a hit of the wide range of garments from abayas and kaftans, to veils, jalabiyas and shaylas and accessories that will be showcased during Heya.

The exhibition is free and open to female visitors. It is expected to draw some 15,000 local and regional women looking for unique designs and there will also be daily fashion shows and a lecture series. As part of its partnership with Heya, Qatar Chamber has also committed to hosting a series of 12 workshops throughout this coming year which will work to provide budding fashion designers and Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) with the skills and knowledge to take their talents to the next level and grow successful businesses. Design Creationz will be organising these workshops to help further enhance local business opportunities, especially for female Qatari entrepreneurs and compliment the on-going Heya exhibition.
