HEC Paris, ranked number two worldwide in Executive Education by the Financial Times in 2015, has successfully completed a tailor-designed Program for Etisalat, a leading telecommunications operator based in the United Arab Emirates.

The objective of the program was to develop the skills and core competencies of participants in line with Etisalat’s competency framework, for three groups of high potential employees. This program’s content covered several topics such as leading change, developing and implementing strategies, customer centricity, responding to innovation and market disruptors, rethinking business models, building relationships and delivering results. In addition, the HEC Paris program provided participants with a deeper understanding of key global trends in the telecoms industry and their impact on Etisalat’s growth. Eight HEC Paris Professors were involved in this program, bringing insights from decades if research and practice.

The latest HiPo batch of graduates was composed of 72 future leaders from 21 nationalities across the company’s footprint of 18 countries. HEC Paris is extremely delighted and proud to have successfully designed and delivered a custom program for Etisalat in accordance with their training and requirement needs,” said Prof. Laoucine Kerbache, Dean & CEO of HEC Paris in Qatar. “Being chosen from among the many options available for Etisalat was truly reflective of our depth of executive education know how and competencies. This includes our knowledge of the market and the wide range of management leadership theories and best practices that we are capable of providing to participants from this region.

“Through the solid academic input from world-class faculty, we provided multiple learning methods based on action-based learning pedagogy and quality deliverables. Within a challenging environment, we encouraged participants to think out of the box and reflect upon themselves, their organizations and their roles within them,” he added. “Thus, our customized learning approaches, anchored on current operational business challenges, ensured a memorable and valuable performance. Divided into two modules, the first module focused on Etisalat as an organization. It covered topics such as industry trends, threats and opportunities. It also focused on the alignment between strategy and the creation of value for the firm. The final part of the module saw the launch of the Action Learning Program through a series of workshops that utilized innovative techniques and stimulated creativity, teamwork and innovation.

The second module focused on individuals and teams. It showed participants how to communicate down and implement strategies in an entity that is growing apace geographically and across cultures. In this module, HEC Paris instructors demonstrated how to deliver strategic alignment, manage change successfully, and lead and build relationships without losing focus of Etisalat’s priorities and core values. It then culminated with the selection of a winning project from the Action Learning Program.

Also included in the program were distance coaching sessions. This supported participants in their Action Learning Projects as participant groups worked on business challenges that were developed with the support of key Etisalat stakeholders.
