Hamad International Airport (HIA) organized various sport activities at the airport on the 10th of February to mark National Sports Day.

Organized under the theme "Your Health, Your Journey, Our Mission," HIA organised a Sports Activity Booth with Mini Golf and Mini football with prizes for winners. The activities at the booth were carefully designed to suite all genders and ages, encourage a healthy and active life style, engage passengers while creating awareness about the importance and benefits of sports in our daily life. The booth was open on National Sports Day and all activities were hosted by HIA employees.

The airport also organised a step counting activity to encourage walking as a form of exercise that can be easily incorporated into our everyday lives, even when traveling. From the time passengers entered the terminal until they got to their boarding gates, the number of steps passengers took and the distance they walked were counted, and the information was displayed on every boarding gate for passengers to see before they boarded their flight.

HIA also organized a Sports Day social media contest where participants were asked to submit pictures of themselves participating in a sporty or healthy activity to win exciting prizes, including access to the Oryx Lounge, access to HIA Vitality Spa’s pool, gym and squash court as well as shopping and restaurant vouchers at Qatar Duty Free. The winners of the contest were announced on the 10th of February.

These videos were displayed on the Airport media screens and on HIA’s social media pages.

"Our passengers enjoyed our activities and made great use of their time in HIA, whether they were transiting through or departing from Doha," said Badr Al Meer, Chief Operating Officer-HIA. "The message we have conveyed through these activities is that sports and fitness must be considered a way of life. Every day is another opportunity to live a healthier life that people must not miss." Qatar celebrates National Sports Day on the second Tuesday of February every year.
