Having launched RFID social media technology in the GCC, London-based agency Mark Gunner Associates LLC (MGA), has announced that it will open a permanent office in Qatar. The news comes after MGA used game-changing Intellitix technology for NBK Automobiles to launch the new Mercedes SL in Doha last month.

Thought-leaders in new technology, NBK Automobiles were first in the region to utilize the innovative RFID social media technology to create a fully interactive event. Over 280 VIP guests were able to connect online using Facebook, posting photographs and status-updates simply by scanning wristbands (with a built-in RFID chip). The acclaimed party, attended by guests including Sheikh Nawaf Nasser Bin Khaled Al Thani, delivered a staggering 240,000 Facebook page impressions; the NBK social networks saw an incredible 300% increase in people talking about the brand.

Mark Gunner, CEO at MGA says: “The success of the technology in the region has been unprecedented. Two thirds of the audience got involved - a much higher proportion than is normal which clearly suggests that Qatar is leading the way when it comes to the integration of new technology into social networks.”

Since the collaboration, MGA has signed a deal to represent Intellitix – the market leader in RFID solutions for live events – for the region. Intellitix head Serge Grimaux says: “Intellitix technology is not only about ground-breaking consumer experiences; for brands it delivers valuable audience insight, creates brand loyalty and now opens the door to the development of unrivaled technology and data driven recognition & reward programs.”

“Consumer engagement is the future and RFID technology delivers new and social tools at every level – for brands, rights holders, venues, sponsors, exhibitors and live event organisers – throughout the GCC,” adds Gunner, who says that Doha was the only option when choosing a hub for the GGC region.

“Doha is well established as the business epicenter for the Middle East,” he says. “MGA’s brand solutions and Intellitix technology are both leaders in their field, and with Qatar being such a centre for innovation, it’s a perfect, natural fit.”
