More than 60 French and francophone residents, among them many employees of the French Embassy to the State of Qatar, participated in a blood donation campaign held on the 3rd of April at the Residence of the French Ambassador in Qatar.

His Excellency the French Ambassador to the State of Qatar, Mr. Eric Chevallier, thanked all donors for their participation in this field campaign for voluntary blood donation in the State of Qatar and expressed his appreciation for the active role of Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) unit team, as well as the francophone network in Qatar, Doha Accueil: "I would like to thank all the staff of Hamad Medical Blood Donation Center for its professionalism and state of the art work and particularly its medical manager, Ms. Sadika Ismail Al Mahmoudi”.

“For the 4thconsecutive year, we have organized a campaign at the French Residence in cooperation with HMC and Doha Accueil. I personally donated my blood once again as I know how meaningful this small gesture can be. The French community representatives organized several campaigns as well in Lycée Bonaparte and Lycée Voltaire schools”.

Attending the voluntary donation campaign held today at the Residence of the French Ambassador, Ms.Sadika Ismail declared: «under the supervision of the French Embassy in Doha and in cooperation with the Blood Donation Center of Hamad Medical Corporation, the French community organized a field campaign for voluntary blood donation for the fourth year in a row”. She added that “this initiative falls within the framework of communities’ involvement to enrich the blood banks in the State of Qatar”.She explained that the Blood Donation Center“ appreciated the French Community’s initiative”, which, she said,“helps to promote the culture of voluntary blood donation in the society”. She concluded: “the campaign saw a high turnout and success within the French community”.

Addressing the media, the French Ambassador stressed the importance of voluntary blood donation,which he said:“saves lives and conveys the strong message according to which each of us can be a responsible citizen. Being engaged in your community and your country of residence, acting to save those in need, proves once again that the French community in Doha fulfills its civic responsibilities, and this will continue”.

He added:“in 2015, I promised to mobilize the French community and more broadly the francophone community living in Qatar. I kept my promise,with the great support of the francophone network, Doha Accueil, member of Maison de la France.
