Doha College marked annual Global Money Week (GMW) by organising related activities and hosting guest speakers in their classrooms to teach Year 5 children about money matters. GMW, an initiative of the “Child and Youth Financial International” organisation based in the Netherlands, is a financial awareness campaign built to inspire children and young people to learn about money, careers and entrepreneurship.

This year, the school welcomed visitors from Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), Qatar Financial Centre, Mazars, Qatar Stock Exchange, TMF Group, Al Rayan Investment and Qatar National Bank, to name a few, who engaged with eager students in activities that taught important concepts such as saving, budgeting, investing, and the financial aspects of most day-to-day events.

The week-long programme; which complimented “Enterprise Week” which was also hosted recently with guest speakers from INJAZ Qatar, asked many relevant questions that enhanced their understanding of how finances support the world they live in. Ms Aisha Mohammed Al Rashad, part of a specialised technical team from QFMA who visited Doha College, explained how her organisation’s awareness-raising activities was “aimed at increasing the level of youth culture to improve their financial skills such as raising income, spending, savings and investment.”
