Doha, Qatar is set to host the UCI Road Cycling World Championships – Doha 2016 this October, in what is the most important event in the sport of road cycling. The UCI Road World Championships (UCI RWC) is making its first ever appearance to the Middle East, and promises to provide a unique setting and conditions for the world’s best road cyclists to compete. The Championships begin on 9th October 2016.
To commemorate the 100-day countdown, The Torch is being prepared for a special lighting to take place the evening of Thursday, 30th June 2016. Visitors at Aspire Park and surrounding areas will see special lighting and messages promoting the UCI Road World Championship. It will be lit from 7PM to 5AM. The event will feature a number of circuits that start or finish in some of Qatar’s most iconic places. Some of the places include Qatar Foundation, Lusail, and most notably, The Pearl, Qatar.  The Pearl will be the heart of this year’s World Championships, with a challenging, but beautiful circuit for thousands of fans from around the world to enjoy.
Speaking on this year’s event, Chairman of the UCI Road Cycling World Championships – Doha 2016 Organising Committee, Sheikh Khaled bin Khaled Al Thani stated “the 100-day mark is putting this year’s event in everyone’s sites, as we prepare to play hosts to the world’s best cyclists in the most important race in pro cycling.”  He went on to say “We are grateful to organisations like UDC – The Pearl-Qatar and Qatar Foundation, for playing pivotal roles in the success of these Championships. The world is set to see the beautiful surroundings at The Pearl and other key landmarks around Qatar. We are prepared to make this a very special occasion for the sport of cycling and the residents of Qatar.”
From 9th to 16th October 2016, Doha is welcoming the UCI Road Cycling World Championships, Doha 2016, which will be held for the first time in the Middle East. More than 1000 riders from 75 countries, over 5700 participants who will be celebrating the spirit of Cycling sport during competitions and Mass Event “ The Race Starts Here “, where amateur and leisure cyclists are invited to ride on the circuit of the UCI Road World Championships Doha 2016 ,on Saturday, October 15th 2016.On a completely closed and safe course cyclists and families will enjoy this unique opportunity to try the 19 kilometers’ Road Circuit, used during the same week by the best riders of the World.
