A group of students from DeBakey High School for Health Professions-Qatar, visited Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) recently. The students were accompanied by Dr. Charlesetta Deason, President and CEO of DeBakey School in Qatar. The visit was organized under the leadership of Dr. Abdu Latif Al Khal, Chairman of Medical Education at HMC, who is also one of the board members at the DeBakey School.

A group of eight students from the 10th Standard at DeBakey School along with their teacher and President of the School were welcomed at the Medical Education Centre by Dr. Ismail Helmi, Deputy Director of Medical Education and Dr. Mohammed S. El Tawil, Assistant Director of Medical Education at HMC. Dr. Ismail in his briefing informed the students about the primary, secondary and tertiary care being provided by HMC through its various hospitals and specialty medical settings.

Dr. Tawil in his informative talk gave a complete overview of the career opportunities that exist for young professionals at the medical corporation. He also explained to the students that HMC offers job opportunities to professionals from all fields, including engineering, management, marketing among many other specialties.

Dr. Charlesetta Deason, President and CEO of DeBakey School-Qatar, in her interaction informed the senior HMC officials about the high emphasis the school places to the education of maths and science. It also guides the students in taking up health sciences as profession and preparing them for university, she added.

Later the students were given a guided tour of HMC facilities and were briefed about the systems at work in different hospitals and medical facilities. The students expressed their warm gratitude to the HMC officials for their successful visit. The DeBakey School in Qatar is a world renowned educational institution with its main centre at Houston in United States and established a sister school in Doha in 2008.
