ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest Independent Exploration and Production (E&P) company, based on production and proved reserves, is a proud Principle Sponsor of The Ninth International Petroleum & Technology Conference (IPTC) 2015. The event is taking place at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) from the 6-9 of December. ConocoPhillips Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Ryan Lance attended the event and participated in the CEO plenary session held on Dec. 7 at QNCC. Mr. Lance is accompanied by Bill Bullock, president of Asia Pacific & Middle East at ConocoPhillips.

Coinciding with the occasion of its 10 year anniversary in Qatar, ConocoPhillips is showcasing its worldwide investments and in country achievements at IPTC. The conference is a significant platform in Qatar for industry activities addressing technology and relevant issues that challenge professionals and management in the global oil and gas sector. ConocoPhillips’ legacy in Qatar started in 2003 when the company signed a Heads of Agreement with Qatar Petroleum to develop Qatargas 3, a large-scale integrated LNG project in Ras Laffan Industrial City. ConocoPhillips holds a 30 percent interest in the project.

Commenting on ConocoPhillips’ participation, Gary Sykes, president, ConocoPhillips Qatar said, “We are proud to actively participate in IPTC again and are looking forward to welcoming visitors and delegates to our booth. We have established a strong presence in Qatar and our legacy is based on the valued partnerships and relationships we have in The State of Qatar. Guided by our SPIRIT Values, our vision is to be the E&P partner of choice by sharing world-class technologies and expertise to contribute towards the Qatar National Vision 2030 of human, social, economic and environmental development.”

Reflecting ConocoPhillips’ commitment to the communities in which its employees work and live, the booth at IPTC takes visitors on a journey showcasing the company’s key assets around the world as well as its community investment initiatives in Qatar. The Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC) which has been designated as ConocoPhillips' center of excellence for water-related technologies is prominently featured at IPTC. Located at the heart of the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), the center’s mission is to study technology related to produced water and desalination. GWSC also carries out a community awareness role through its visitor center to promote water conservation in Qatar.

GWSC has already achieved a great deal in engaging local school children and has opened its doors to over 5000 students since its launch. ConocoPhillips' signature corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign, “Kulluna for Health and Safety,” is also placed center stage at IPTC drawing on its big success in the previous edition. In partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), founding sponsor ConocoPhillips Qatar helped launch a five-year national health and safety awareness campaign called ‘Kulluna,’ which means “all of us” in Arabic. The campaign aims to raise awareness about preventable injuries and illnesses, improve health and wellbeing, and give information about medical services and facilities offered by HMC.

Since the campaign’s inception in 2011, Kulluna has recognized as dynamic community oriented program that has reached a diverse audience. The campaign has always engaged with the community by mobilizing doctors, nurses and clinical staff whenever required. All this has led Kulluna to positively influence people’s behavior when it comes to health and safety measures. At IPTC, Kulluna set up its “Healthy Heart, Know your Numbers” campaign where visitors are encouraged to receive biometric checkups as well as receive medical advice and tips from HMC professionals about maintaining a healthy heart.

“Our participation at IPTC allows us at ConocoPhillips to support our industry and give an overview of our values, long-term commitments, and business and community investments locally and globally. I encourage everyone to come visit us, meet our team, get to know more about our company, and get their biometric checkup done by the HMC professionals available on site.” Sykes added. ConocoPhillips Qatar recently moved to its new state-of-the-art offices in The Gate Mall. The office was inaugurated by His Excellency Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, and Her Excellency Ms. Dana Shell Smith, the US Ambassador to Qatar. The Doha office serves as ConocoPhillips' Middle East hub and the regional headquarters.
