Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), a joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, held a workshop titled “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People”. This was organised in collaboration with Mr. Salah Al-Yafei, the Career Development Coach, and focused on prioritizing, understanding people & their personalities, renewing life, and benefiting the community.

Such workshops are organized once every month by the Career Development department at Bedaya Center. These deal with developmental topics in the areas of professional & personal development as well as establishing goals and priorities for business & life. During the workshop, Coach Salah Al-Yafei focussed on the seven habits of highly effective people. He introduced concepts that find relevance in personal as well as professional life and focused on how individuals can use principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity as a foundation. Mr. Al Yafei also drew from Ahadeeth to demonstrate that the concepts of reflection and personal development are also rooted in Islamic teachings.

On this occasion, Reem Al-Suwaidi, General Manager of Bedaya Center, said: "The workshop encouraged students to discover their inner leadership skills, and also highlighted the talents of leaders. Such workshops contribute to personality development, way of thinking and skills of students in the field of youth work, which is considered one of the most important foundations of human development and contributes greatly to the improvement of youth skills." “We are constantly seeking to provide the best possible ways that will help and support the orientations of our students,” she added. Commenting on the workshop, Salah Al-Yafei said: "During this workshop, we discussed the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, through which participants were able to learn the most important habits that can help them to be more effective. This also helped them realise that decisions are the primary and most influential factor in life."

The first part of the discussion was about moving from dependence to independence as well as self-control and included the first three 3 habits – Be Proactive, Begin with the end in mind, and Put first things first. The second part of the discussion revolved around interdependence and tackled additional 3 habits - You can’t be successful without thinking of others, Seek first to understand, then to be understood, and Synergize. The third part of the discussion focussed on the seventh and final habit - Sharpen the Saw which revolves around balance and renews one's resources, energy, and health to create a sustainable, long-term, effective lifestyle.
