Bedaya Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Center), the joint initiative by Qatar Development Bank and Silatech, successfully concluded the second edition of its winter camp- “Winterna.”

Held from 21 January till 1 February at the culture village – Katara, the winterna camp provided high school and university students the opportunity to learn about leadership skills, job shadowing, creative thinking, project development, team work, ways and methods of effective communication. During the 12-day camp, the participants attended several workshops, educative session and visits to several institutions to hone up their skills.

During the camp, Ola Abdin, Career Development Advisor at Bedaya Center and her team held several workshops for the attendees that highlighted important topics that would support the professional development of the attending students in the future. Several workshops were presented to the audience such as Know yourself, Business model, Time management, How to act, Creativity, Idea development, How to pitch and marketing, Leadership and finally the Customer service workshop. The “Winterna” camp also provided attendees the opportunity of Job Shadowing and field visits to several public institutions to get comprehensive knowledge about different specializations. The “Winterna” participants visited Al Jazeera Channel, Qatari Diar, 2022, Tarsheed (the National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency), Qatar Scientific Club.

The participants had some entrepreneurial visits as well. They visited businesses working in the private sector, where they were offered to work for in groups for two consecutive days. The purpose of the visit was to highlight the importance of team work in them and explore new line of businesses. The visits included Flat white café, The breakfast club, Papercuts, Albina, Evergreen organics, L’eto café. The Winterna camp wasn’t only about workshops and learning only, there was time for fun as well. Attendees had lot of entertainment activities including Adventure room, The Chemist Cafe, Urban visit game, Kayaking, Astronomy trip and Treasure hunt.

On this occasion, Reem Al-Sowaidi, General Manager of Bedaya Center, said,” ‘Winterna’ camp allowed high school and university students to take advantage of the midterm-break between the two semesters. Thanks to the help of many trainers and organizations, we have been able to provide a unique experience to these students through a variety of workshops and field visits that highlighted the most important projects in the public and private business sectors and to train them to launch, refine their skills and improve their potential to help them in their future lives. We also created a fun atmosphere through a variety of activities that added a distinctive flavor to the camp.”
