The application portal for the inaugural Executive Master’s in Leadership, Policy and Innovation Program - academic year 2018-19 - has officially opened.  Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) and Georgetown University welcome qualified QLC graduates to apply to the first-of-its-kind program in the region.

QLC and Georgetown University officially launched the new joint program during an open house event that was held at the St. Regis last week. The gathering was attended by a wide array of Qatari business and government leaders who have already successfully completed one of QLC’s National Leadership Programs. H.E. Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jefali Al Nuaimi, Minister of Administration Development and Social Affairs, and member of QLC Board of Directors, launched the program and expressed he was pleased with this new opportunity describing it as “an important milestone in Qatar’s journey in developing a knowledge-based economy.”

H.E. Sheikh Dr. Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, Board Member and Managing Director of QLC, noted: “This is a unique opportunity for our graduates to build upon the knowledge and expertise they have established from our National Leadership Programs. Strong leaders should adopt lifelong teachings as an integral part of their development. Earning the Executive Master’s degree in Leadership will prove to be of tremendous value; for the graduates, the respective industries they work in, and for the future of our country.”

The Executive Master’s Program has attracted interest from QLC graduates who hold leading positions across numerous sectors. Mr. Khamis Al Mohannadi expressed his interest to participate in the program: “The varied modules on offer are well balanced and enriching, and will equip participants with new and insightful perspectives. Also, the successful completion of the program will result in an Executive Master’s degree conferred by a prestigious university with standing alumni in high esteem in Qatar and the world.”

Former Executive Leader Mr. Abdulla Al Mehshadi appreciates QLC’s efforts in responding to the graduates’ call for a new program, saying: “The Executive Master’s class will have a varied group of QLC alumni from different National Leadership Programs across the years. This brings about knowledge exchange and the opportunity to tap into each other’s professional expertise.”

Head of the Business Strategy and Planning Department at Oryx GTL, and former Rising Leader, Ms. Amal Al Shamry, explained the reasons behind her interest in joining the program: “There are many Executive Master’s Programs, but most of them are limited to one area. This degree, on the other hand, is holistic and encompassing - bringing the trendiest topics together.” Ms. Amal continued: “Qatar is constantly developing and changing. In our current economic climate, we are in need of innovative and creative leadership across all industries, and I firmly believe that this program caters to that need.”

Mr. Ali Al Ali, a member of one of the first QLC Executive Leaders Program cohorts, commented: “The sincere cooperation between QLC and a prestigious university such as Georgetown demonstrates the strength of QLC’s curriculum.” He added: “I have no doubt with this program that the Centre’s positive impact on the Qatari society will be further increased.” Ms. Al Jazzi Fettis, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at the College of Engineering, Qatar University, and a former Rising Leader, noted: “There is a mutual feeling amongst QLC graduates that we will continue the journey we have started. Education is an ongoing effort that challenges us, tests our capabilities, and drives us to achieve groundbreaking results. QLC and Georgetown University are nothing less than world-class facilitators.”

QLC and Georgetown University have designed the joint program to be offered exclusively to qualified QLC graduates who meet the admission criteria. To earn the Executive Master’s degree, participants must complete all modules held in Doha, as well as a residency module in Washington, DC. Upon completion, the degree will be conferred by Georgetown University and all graduates will join the university’s global network of world leaders, policy makers, and renowned innovators.

The nine-month program begins in September 2018, in Doha. Further information is available at
