According to the EY MENA IPO Eye Report, IPO deal value in the MENA region witnessed a sizeable increase during Q4 2019 both in terms of deal volume and value, with five IPOs raising proceeds of US$30.0b, compared with the two IPOs that raised US$190m in Q3 2019.

Global IPO exchange activity also continued to pick up in Q4 2019, with 353 IPOs raising US$84.5b, marking an increase of 25% in IPO volumes compared with Q1 2019.

The demand for residential houses has remained firm in the first month of the year. The volume of deals for residential houses grew by 59 percent to QR483.5m in January this year from QR304m in January last year, according to the Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin.

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday banned shisha or hookah smoking in all restaurants and cafes in the country until further notice. Anyone who violates this decision will be held accountable, the MoPH said in a statement.

As a response to the directive of the Government of Qatar to suspend studies in all public and private schools and universities in the country as a measure to limit the spread of COVID-19, Stenden University Qatar has facilitated the delivery of virtual educational activities for all of its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
