With great youth efforts and in partnership with a group of educational institutions and leading companies in Qatar, TEDxYouth was launched last Saturday, January 18 and was held at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar. TEDxYouth Al-Dafna a day-long event for middle and high school students, included live speakers, hands-on activities and great conversations.

Qatar University’s (QU) Gulf Studies Center and the Al Jazeera Centre for Studies jointly organized a two-day conference entitled “Towards a New Gulf Security Regime: Abandoning Zero-Sum Approaches,” which launched yesterday in the QU campus. The conference aimed to explore new approaches to Gulf security and was attended by a large number of researchers both from within Qatar and abroad.

The latest strategies for the clinical management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) were discussed at the most recent instalment of Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar’s (WCM-Q) Grand Rounds.

Dr. Mohammed Yousuf Karim, assistant professor of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine at WCM-Q, summarized recent advances in the tools used by physicians in the investigation and clinical management of patients with SLE, before discussing the limitations and barriers to progress of new personalized medicine approaches to SLE treatment.
